Gianna Welsh, 2020-2021 Rally Commissioner August September ASB Report
Position Assessment: In my current position as rally commissioner, there haven't been many opportunities that utilize my position. Throughout August and September Laila, Bryan and I have been making videos for the “creative club rush”. I think that the videos have been coming out really well and I haven't heard any negative feedback. We’ve made videos for debate, math, HBV, bug, and multicultural club. Professional Development: Throughout the school year I believe I’ve grown a lot. Leadership is one of the classes I really look forward to attending. It’s like a cute little second family, and although I haven’t had the opportunity to meet most of the new members, I can tell that if we ever go back we will work amazing as a group. Leadership has given me a lot of optimism primarily stemming from the Scott Backovich training. Seeing everyone so excited to find new ways to deal with the current state of our world pertaining to the co-vid situation, really gave me a new sense of hope for the upcoming year. I have no doubt that any obstacle to come our way will be dealt with in the best way possible by all of these brilliant souls. Concerns/ Change: My major concern thus far is the participation of the student body. I worry that the turn out for our dress up days and activities won't be as good as we are expecting. If this ends up being the case, I am also worried that if the turnout isn't as we had hoped that it will dampen our motivation. As of now I don't have any changes. Positive Comment: As I previously mentioned, I really enjoy the positivity this class brings everyday. I’m pleasantly surprised by the freshies openness to speaking in front of the class and taking on extra responsibilities. I've also noticed that I feel a lot less intimidated in class, although it may just be because I'm a senior now. My Impact: I’m aware of how much of a toll covid has been taking on manys mental health, and I want everyone to be able to come and talk to me if they need to even if I don't know them well or they don't even need me to talk and just listen. I think getting your feelings out is one of the most effective ways of making yourself feel better and let go of the emotions you're holding in.
October November ASB Report
Gianna Welsh, 2020-2021 Rally Commissioner October November ASB Report
Position Assessment: The reopening of the school will hopefully increase the number of jobs for Laila and I to do. As of now Laila and I have worked together with Morty and Bryan to make the club rush videos for our creative club rush, but we haven't had any other responsibilities directly related to our position. I have been trying to help out where I can, mainly with the senior class officers. Professional Development: Throughout the school year I believe I’ve grown a lot. Leadership is one of the classes I really look forward to attending, even while it was online. I love the socialization from attending school in person, but I feel that it challenges my anxiety. Due to the lack of conversation with the outside world these past few months, I seem to have lost much of my social skills. Although it is a bit distracting throughout the school day, I feel it's good for me to struggle so it pushes my capabilities. Concerns/ Change: My major concern for this year is the possibility of lockdown again due to an increase in covid cases. I think the last thing the student body and myself need is to be isolated again. I’m praying that the student body is taking this as seriously as they should be, so we have a chance at having some sort of normalcy throughout the school year. Positive Comment: I’m extremely impressed with this class's compatibility. We all work and communicate well, while feeling comfortable with one another. I don't believe the freshmen are as scared of the seniors as I was when I was their age. My Impact: I’m aware of how much of a toll covid has been taking on manys mental health, and I want everyone to be able to come and talk to me if they need to even if I don't know them well or they don't even need me to talk and just listen. I also want to make the most of what is left of my senior year (pending the school doesn’t close) for myself and the student body.
